Know your referrals with free counter | # | Tips — theeasyway @ 7:30 am

I have several questions for you.

  • How many visitor that come to your websites today?
  • How many in the past 7 days?
  • How many in the past month?
  • Where their came from?
  • How they know your website?

Do you know the answer? If you know the answer, than you are a good webmaster. With the data, you can create a plan for your site, to expand it, to get more traffic to your site, and hopely to earn more money with ads.

If not, I strongly recommended you to add a free counter for your site. I use site meter for my blog, and happy with it.

Isn’t that free counter just for count how many hits that your website get?

Yes, but not just that. It actually give you more than just how many hits you get. More important is, that you know how your visitor know about your website, from which URL they found your website (referral).

I join a few forums, mailing list, submit articles to digg.com and many other ways trying go get more traffic to my website. With site meter, I can tell from where my traffic coming from.

Example for my Blog, I can tell that most hits I get are coming from mailing list (webmail), second from forums, and third from digg. With this knowledge, I can plan what to do. Should I try to get more hits from mailing list with become more active. Or should I become more active in forum? Or create more articles and then submit it to digg?

For me, with the data that I have, I can see that submit few articles to digg can attract more hits to my Blog. So my plan is to create more articles and then submit it to digg. Maybe the plan will change in the next week.

Its different in many cases, and for you, if you already have the data, than It’s up to you.
